BHAKTAPUR TOP

Bhaktapur, the “City of Devotees,” is another of the three original royal cities in the Kathmandu Valley.  It is primarily Hindu although there are many Buddhist monasteries, monuments, and shrines scattered throughout its Durbars and residential courtyards. Its most famous square houses a five-story pagoda set on a steep brick pyramid, the tallest example of such architecture in Nepal. Bhaktapur’s pottery square dates back to the 14th century and is known for it’s delicious buffalo milk yogurt. A visit here isn’t complete without sampling the Juju Dhau or “King of Yoghurt” in Newari, a native nepali language.
